Fork in the Road

What the hell am I doing?  Five weeks I've been at this. Five.  Wanna know how much I've lost?  A pound and a half.  Wanna know how many inches I've lost?  Nothing.  Why am I even trying anymore.  What is going on?  I've been exercising three days a week, I've been changing my eating.  I can count on one hand how many times I've eaten out.  I've had maybe 24 ounces of soda in five weeks.  What the hell?  Am I just doomed to live this life at 306.5 pounds?  I thought by now I would have seen something.  Even five or ten pounds.  But no, I see nothing.  It makes it hard to keep going.  I'm feeling really depressed and down about it.  All I want to do is give up.  Should I go talk to a doctor?  What should I do?  I have tried just about every diet under the sun.  I finally said, 'hey, I'm gonna try to do it natural instead of taking pills or being on a regimented program.'  But no, not even that is working.  I'm at a fork in the road and I don't know which way to go.

  1. Hmmmm, that is odd. In an earlier post you stated that you ran up a hill, is that not spectacular? You could try cutting out dairy... Dairy is pretty much all fat, saturated artery clogging fat. When I went vegan I lost 100 lbs in less then a year.... I know it seems like a huge deal. I said to an associate that was vegan, Ok, I will try it for two weeks. Strict vegan, when I noticed a dramatic energy increase and like 15 lbs gone in two weeks, how could I go back!?
http://www.engine2diet.com/ is a good website to learn a little about veganism....

  2. Hey my friend Bill went through the same thing and when and talked to a doctor. They said his Thyroid wasn't functioning proprely and they put him on a med for it and the weight fell off.

I would talk to a doctor. Think about when you are eating and what is in your food. Are you having a breakfast and eating 5-6 small meals a day. Those little things help. LOVE YA ANGIE! Don't give up.. Keep going strong. You will do it... I know it!

  3. @Sindel: I can't do vegan. I like dairy products and I like meat. Those things make for balanced eating anyways and I don't eat that much dairy that it would effect my weight like that.

@Chris: I have thought about that. My mom has a thyroid condition as well and I should get myself checked I guess. I've been tryin my hardest to eat the small meals but nightime is the hardest. I work from 5pm to 9pm and I eat dinner at about 3:30 pm. I bring a healthy snack with me on break so I am not tempted to eat late at night. I'm trying not to give up.

  4. Do you think that I did not like cheese and meat? I did, ate dairy, meat and eggs every day for 20 years and then I decided I had had enough of my body and needed to do something drastic to change it.... I guess it just depends on which you like more.....

  5. @Sindel: you are basically saying that I like meat cheese and eggs more than I like being healthy. Last time I checked those things were all part of a balanced diet as long as you eat them correctly. Vegan is not healthier than a well balanced diet. A glass of red wine everyday is good for your heart but overindulge and it suddenly becomes bad for you. Anything can be this way vegan or not!
