Healthy on a Budget

This week and next week will be difficult to eat healthy.  It's been tough financially for us since christmas, and right now our food stamp money is all gone until next friday.  It's going to be hard to eat healthy on a limited budget for a week and a half.  I'm going to still try the best I can, but I'll have to eat some bad foods in order to not go hungry.  Eventually we will get back into a normal pace and get back on the right track.  But as for then next little while, I'm going to have to do what I can do.

  1. In the beginning it seems like eating healthy is more expensive, but I believe it is pretty cheap. Lentils sold in bulk, by the pound are very healthy and filling. Whole grains like oats, Barley, Bulgar Wheat, Couscous and Quinoa (Quinoa is amazing!!! Soooooo good for you) These whole grains have a lot of fiber which keeps you full because it is hard to break down and digest, they have proteins that are so healthy with no saturated fats or cholesterol. Pretty darn cheap to. Vital Wheat Gluten (or gluten flour) to make Seitan which can be added to many things.... Hell, flour to make pancakes (use whole wheat), breads, and stuff.

    You can do it!!!!!
